Ultimate Birthing Playlist
From a Rockford Illinois Newborn Photographer

Utilizing music during labor and delivery is a great way to create a calm environment amidst what might otherwise feel chaotic. I had an epidural with my first child, so I think I seemed outwardly calm, even though internally I was NOT feeling calm at all. The on call doctor who delivered my oldest son was yapping about Basketball while I pushed. Yeah. Not ideal for me, but I hadn’t prepared myself ahead of time by considering exactly what type of environment I would want while laboring and delivering. I highly suggest to anyone preparing for birth, to consider these things before heading to the hospital. Have a (flexible) plan in your head of what vibes you’d like in the delivery room. You may want to use music to calm you, to pump you up, or to distract you. Or you may want complete silence! Another option is listening to birthing affirmations. Or, you may want to prepare for multiple situations, in case you change your mind in the process! Whatever you decide, I think you’ll thank yourself later for being prepared.
