Spring Butterfly Cake Smash
A Cake Smash Session in Byron for Two Beautiful Twin Girls
Mom wanted a butterfly theme for these gorgeous girls and I think we nailed it! We went with a blue and purple color scheme with subtle butterflies on our backdrop. Mom also made their cake from scratch- how sweet is that?!
These beautiful twins were SO different from each other, which was so cute! Miss Blue was a smiley little model, while Miss Purple was very skeptical of me and my camera. Mom also had her work cut out for her chasing two active girls around and putting them back on the backdrop.
It is always so interesting to see how babies react to the cake during their smash session, and let me tell you these girlies were NOT interested in it! (Until I put my camera away and started packing everything up, of course!) Some babies hate the texture of the frosting and don’t like the feeling of being messy. Plus for many, it’s their first time ever tasting anything that sweet! For these two, cheerios were more interesting than birthday cake.
I think parents often see the popular “typical” cake smash photo online of a baby just going to town, covered in frosting from head to toe, and can expect that during their session. While this reaction is super adorable, it’s often not the case! I like to remind parents that part of what makes their cake smash photos so special is the documentation of their child’s authentic reaction to this new sweet treat! Even if your session doesn’t produce frosting covered photos- I promise you will cherish this session as a special memory in the years to come.
