Hand Crocheted Newborn Props

This mama hand crocheted many items for her sweet boy throughout her pregnancy. She had skillfully created multiple blankets, outfits, and stuffed animals with her own two hands. I was super impressed, and just think that is so unbelievably special, so I was very excited when she told me she wanted to incorporate some of what she had made into her son’s newborn session. We took a look at each item, and decided what to use based on sentimental value, color preferences, and size of the items.

The first item we chose was this adorable baby blue outfit, paired with a blue backdrop. Full disclosure, I don’t typically recommend bringing your own outfits to your newborn session. Store-bought outfits can be so cute, but are often ill-fitting on brand new babies, and their tiny features can get overwhelmed or lost in them. However, this little outfit fit Baby C so perfectly, and he looked so precious all cuddled up in it!

Next, we used some homemade stuffed animals, or as my kids call them, “Loveys.” His little hands holding that bear are so sweet. Then we added a little octopus and a bunny.

Lastly, we used a this hand made blanket and I paired it with a green swaddle. Also, what’s better than a baby in a bucket?

Finally, here is the rest of Baby C’s gallery. His parents wanted more muted blues, greens, greys, and neutrals, plus black & white images as well.

If you aren’t a master of crochet like this talented Mom, but would still love to incorporate something sentimental into your session, check out this list for other special ideas.
